Make A Difference
We’re asking you for your annual pledge to support Temple Beth Israel. This letter replaces our appeal during Kol Nidre services.
Dues at Temple Beth Israel are low - less than $5 per week per person. If you come to Shabbat services each week, the cost of your dues barely covers the cost of your lunch after services. Yet dues account for only a small portion of our annual budget. The Temple continues to rely on income generated from the endowment, along with your contributions to maintain a balanced budget. That’s why this year’s Yom Kippur appeal is more important than ever.
Have you noticed? We’ve done a lot to improve the building’s appearance. From rebuilding the columns in the front of the building to replacing the carpeting in the Sanctuary, we continue to make our Temple more welcome and inviting.
Temple Beth Israel is more than a building.
It is a place filled with the sounds of prayer and song, conversations and memories.
It is the place where we share the cycles of our lives, and turn everyday occurrences into sacred moments.
It is the place where our lives touch and connect with one another and with shared Jewish values.
It is the place where we grapple with tradition and make sense of it in a contemporary world.
It is the place where we return each year to hear the sound of the shofar and the cantor chant Kol Nidre.
It is the place where we return on the anniversaries of our losses to remember those who meant the most to us.
It is the place where we return each week because Shabbat lunch is a given, and community is a blessing.
It is the place where we go because it’s where we belong.
We ask for your continued financial support to keep the lights on, the refrigerator full, and the conversations flowing.
You can make a difference …
- By attending the daily minyan, Friday night, and Shabbat morning services whenever you can.
- By serving on a committee, assisting in planning or attending a Temple activity.
- By inviting friends and acquaintances to join you at Temple Beth Israel.
- By sponsoring a Kiddush or Shabbat Lunch during the year.
- By supporting the Temple through a financial contribution now, and again during the year in honor or in memory of a loved one.
Once again this year, there will be no speeches, pledge cards, or tabs to fold during Kol Nidre services. Just a simple request - please be generous with your time and talent, and reach into your pockets as deeply as you can.
Please return the attached form with your contribution to the Temple before the start of Yom Kippur. We are seeking 100% participation from this appeal. Please do your part, so we don’t have to remind you at services to make your pledge.
Thank you in advance for your continued support of Temple Beth Israel. I wish you a happy, healthy new year.
