Directions to Tashlich

Sunday Sept 20, 6:00-6:30 p.m.

2nd day of Rosh Hashanah

Charles River, behind Embassy Cinema parking lot, 18 Pine St.

Tashlich is the custom of symbolically casting away the mistakes of the previous year in order to begin the new year afresh. This year, in addition to traditional prayers and songs, we will include mindful intentions (kavanot) as we follow the ancient ritual of casting breadcrumbs into flowing water: seeing our own mistakes, having sympathy for others’ mistakes, letting go of habitual patterns, and creating an intention for the coming year.

The service lasts half an hour. Breadcrumbs will be provided for those who cannot bring any.

Directions

From Temple, go left on Harvard St and right onto Main St. (or go right on Harvard St and left onto Charles St.) Take a right onto Moody St. Cross the Charles River. Take the first left onto Pine St. You will see the Embassy Cinema on your left. Immediately following is a senior center with two driveways. The next left is the entrance to the Embassy Cinema parking lot. A large sign says PARKING. Park in the back left corner. The gathering will be held a few steps away on a small bridge that crosses the river.
